Connecting Make.com to your AI Colleague
With the Make.com MCP Toolbox you connect Make.com to your AI Colleague. This allows your AI Colleague to execute Make scenarios, such as creating an appointment in your CRM, sending a notification or saving data in a spreadsheet. This guide explains how to set up the connection.
💡 Tip: This guide is about connecting Make.com to Atelyr. For building scenarios in Make.com, please refer to the Make.com documentation at www.make.com.
Part 1: Creating an MCP Toolbox in Make.com
Before you can connect Make.com to your AI Colleague, you first need to create an MCP Toolbox in Make.com. Here is how to do this:
Step 1: Log in to Make.com
Go to www.make.com and log in with your account. Don't have an account yet? Create one first.
Step 2: Go to MCP Toolboxes
Click "MCP Toolboxes" in the left menu. Can't see this option? Check whether your account has the correct permissions.
Step 3: Create a new MCP Toolbox
Click "Create" in the top right corner. Give your MCP Toolbox a clear name so you can easily find it later. For example: "Atelyr - Bakery".
Step 4: Add tools
Add the Make scenarios or modules that your AI Colleague should be able to execute. These are the actions your AI Colleague can trigger during a conversation. Make sure each scenario has a clear and descriptive name so your AI Colleague understands when to use it.
💡 Tip: Give each scenario a clear description of what it does and what input it expects. The clearer the description, the better your AI Colleague understands when and how to use the scenario.
Step 5: Copy the MCP API Key
After creating the MCP Toolbox, an API Key will appear. Copy this key and save it temporarily, as you will need it in the next step. Note: for security reasons, the key will be hidden later.
Step 6: Close the window correctly
Close the window in Make.com. Do not click the Connect button within Make.com itself — the connection is made in Atelyr.
Step 7: Copy the MCP Server URL
Also copy the MCP Server URL. This typically has the format: https://eu1.make.com/mcp/server/...
Part 2: Connecting Make.com in Atelyr
Now that you have created the MCP Toolbox in Make.com, you can set up the connection in Atelyr.
Step 1: Go to the Tool Setup of your AI Colleague
Open your AI Colleague in Atelyr and go to the "Setup Tools" step. Select the "Make.com MCP Toolbox" tool there.
Step 2: Enter the MCP Server URL
Paste the MCP Server URL you copied in Part 1 into the "MCP Server URL" field.
Step 3: Enter the MCP API Key
Paste the API Key you copied in Part 1 into the "MCP API Key" field. Note: for security reasons, this key will be hidden once you have connected.
Step 4: Click "Connect"
Click the "Connect" button to establish the connection. If everything is filled in correctly, your AI Colleague is now connected to Make.com and can execute the configured scenarios.
Common errors
Is the connection failing? These are the most common causes:
Incorrect API Key: Check whether you have copied the correct key from Make.com.
Incorrect MCP Server URL: Make sure the URL exactly matches what Make.com has generated.
Clicked Connect within Make.com: The connection must be made in Atelyr, not within Make.com itself. Create a new MCP Toolbox and follow the steps again.
Scenarios not set up correctly: Make sure the scenarios in Make.com have clear inputs and outputs so your AI Colleague can trigger them correctly.
