Connecting your AI Colleague to your phone system
This guide explains how to connect your AI Colleague to your phone system, so it is reachable for callers and functions fully as a digital colleague.
β
π‘ Tip: Connecting to your phone system can be technical. We recommend asking your telecom provider for assistance.
Step 1: Create a SIP account in your phone system
A SIP account ensures that a device or user registers within your phone system, enabling calls to be made. Just like a physical desk phone needs a SIP account, your
β
AI Colleague also needs one to register within the phone system.
Create a new SIP account in your phone system and note down the credentials (username, password and domain).
Step 2: Select your country and telecom provider
Select the country where you are active. Then choose your telecom provider from the list. If your provider is not listed, select "Other (Custom SIP)".
β
Step 3: Enter the SIP credentials
Enter the details of the SIP account you created:
Username: The username of the SIP account (e.g. 1001)
Password: The corresponding password
Domain: The SIP domain of your phone system (e.g. sip.example.com). You can also include the port directly in the domain (e.g. sip.example.com:5060)
β
Step 4: Advanced settings (optional)
Do you need a different port or a specific transport protocol? Click "Advanced Settings" to configure these:
Port: The default is 5060
Transport protocol: Choose between UDP, TCP or TLS, depending on what your phone system requires
Step 5: Test the connection and deploy
Click "Test SIP connection" to check whether the connection works. If the connection is successful, you can click "Deploy AI Colleague" to activate your AI Colleague.
If the registration fails, check the entered details. Below you will find the most common errors.
Step 6: Make your AI Colleague reachable in the phone system
Your AI Colleague is now a user within your phone system and can be used just like any other colleague. Add them to a call group or queue, for example, so they are automatically called when needed.
Step 7: Test whether it works
Check whether everything works correctly by calling your AI Colleague internally via their internal number. Have you linked the AI Colleague to an external phone number? Then you can also call that number to test.
β
Common errors during registration
Is the connection failing? These are the most common causes:
Incorrect SIP credentials: Check the username and password.
Incorrect domain: Check that the SIP domain exactly matches what your phone system requires.
Incorrect port or transport protocol: Check the advanced settings and ensure the port and protocol (UDP/TCP/TLS) are set correctly.
